Taking the optimists to the classroom?

Liverpool Yacht Club are kindly allowing the Lisa Pover Trust to take along some 'optimists', 'toppers' into St Colombus Primary school on 10th December. The kids are so looking forward to seeing the boats up close and personal...after following a 5 week programme with the Trust, this is a chance for all 64 kids to see and get a feel for the boats before we start a programme with them all again in the spring once the dinghy club starts again in the spring! St Colombus Primary School, Huyton LIVER

What a fab bunch of kid's. I think there is 62/64 8-9year olds who we have been working with here in Liverpool.

They've been following the Clipper 09-10 race and we done everything with them from Q&A's, naming of objects, terminology, various kit, MOB drills and reports, we are currently setting up a contact in Cape Breton, Canada for an old skool Pen Pal system, good ole writing on paper haha...erm what else have we done with them...oh we are taking the dinghies into the school on the 10th for them to have a mooch and play about.

Henri Lloyd have also very kindly given us some Ben Ainslie kit too...massive Thank you to them.

It's all starting to happen...woo hoo

Broughton Hall High School, West Derby L

I did my first big big group talk on 10th November at the all girl's secondary school Broughton Hall. 210 14yr old girl's infact...great bunch with such energy and enthusiasm for life.

It reminded me of my school days as I used to play in the Netball team and we played at Broughton Hall many a times. Seems a lot smaller though these days...Where has the time gone folks? So if your still out there Mrs Andain and Mrs Webster...Thanks for all the love and support you shown towards me, great role models. Who'd have thought that my first sailing experience in the South of France would have played such a large part of my life now.

Take it easy folks...more work booked in for a secondary school in March...working with the primary bunch at the mo!!!
